I do like others have suggested with consolidation, but a bit different. Here's my course of action.
-high light sections you want to loop and place in session veiw
-hit control + j to consolidate
-hit control + c to copy parts
-hit control + z to unconsolidate (so it's not to fuck with original recording)
-hit tab to go to session
-paste to desired clip
How do you transfer loops from arrange to session ?

I had this problem too before
The way I encountered it was playing a synth or a guitar over a programmed beat, wanted to loop a certain section of the beat, would get that problem.
The best way I found to do it is similar to whats been suggested
select the section, command e to cut the section, then crop the clips (this way no need to create a new audio clip) activate loop switch and drag over to session.
Works well

Re: How do you transfer loops from arrange to session ?
I know this is years old, but I was just trying to find a solution for this and decided I'd post my workaround. I'm using Live 12 but I think it's the same in older versions.
1. Split tracks into sections in arrangement view, make sure warp is on and loop is off first.
2. Still in arrangement, select first section (multiple tracks at the same time) and in the clip view make a selection of the time you want to loop. Right click in clip view, select Loop Selection.
3. Drag selection from arrangement to session view, the correct section will be looped.
This is the best way I could come up with if you want to avoid consolidating tracks.
