Creating drum loops

Hi I Am new to the forum.i am looking to buy ABLETON LIVE 5.I WANT to use it as a sequencer.i would like to know the best way to make drum loops using one-shots.in the midi editor how do i make variations or different patterns ,not in realtime.is there a way to label the patterns and then insert them into the arrangement?also how would i send each drumhit to its own effect?one last thing also is there a way to rearrange or chop up loops in LIVE?thank you i appreciate it.

Grab a copy of the demo. Give impulse a try. Yes to the midi question but the manual does a waaay better job than I could in explaing it. It comes in the install. Look up midi and take it from there.

The manual is even available as a separate download - and it is good and simple to understand!

it comes with two samplers - Simpler & Impulse. Simpler lets you control one sound (or many at the same time by linking channels) ~ Impulse lets you control 8(?) different sounds. they come with presets for bass, snare, etc.
Once you have beats layed down you can render your loops or render the midi.
You can stretch, split, arrange, & effect your loops all pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
