LIVE 12 VST compatibility
Unable to get my waves plugins to show up in Live12?
Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
I’m sure Waves will sell you a plan that supports it, eventually…

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Me and a few other people reported this a month or two ago during the Beta so they're at least aware of it and hopefully fixing it soon. Bummed it wasn't fixed for the full release because I'm missing a lot of plugins I use which makes 12 pretty unusable until it's fixed.
So far I've noticed my Valhalla, Voxengo, Universal Audio, and Kilohearts plugins missing, but pretty sure there's more.

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Interesting, my Valhalla and UA are both showing up and working fine?...
Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
It seems pretty random? Like Valhalla Supermassive is showing up, but Vintageverb and Shimmer are missing, and people reported other plugins missing from Arturia which I haven't had an issue with. Waves could be it's own issue just in the way it installs thing but seems like this is a broader issue in 12.
I've tried rescanning plugins many times and granting live full disk access with no luck so not sure where the problem comes from.

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
For Waves it might be that you have to de-install and re-install their plugins via Waves Central (had this issue in the past)

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Actually just tried your reinstalling idea with Valhalla and it worked. Kind of a pain to hunt down every plugin that's having compatibility issues but at least something works. Feeling dumb for not trying that sooner lol
Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Sometimes removing the VST3 files out of the VST folder, starting Ableton, closing Ableton, move the VST3 files back, restart Ableton triggers the plug-in scan process...

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
All my plugins (including Valhalla and Kilohearts) show up and work fine except for Spektro Audio ACDGen vst3.
Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Haven't run into any issues so far; Waves plugins seem to work fine.

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
The fun question, are you who are having issues with this on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4? There have been issues with iLok, peripherals among other things with the last update.

iLok issue is only with AU's not with VSTsMachinesworking wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:26 pmThe fun question, are you who are having issues with this on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4? There have been issues with iLok, peripherals among other things with the last update.

Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Oh it's not just iLok. My favorite verified by another user, move Kontakt 7 to your second monitor and instant Kernel Panic. There are also issues with peripherals mostly USB hubs not connecting properly. I have not had iLok plugins disappear, but I've had iLok dongles not show up until moved to a different slot, and other software glitches. 14.4 screwed up plenty of things.cids wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 8:44 amiLok issue is only with AU's not with VSTsMachinesworking wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:26 pmThe fun question, are you who are having issues with this on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4? Re: LIVE 12 VST compatability
Thanks for clarifying, I was specifically referring to the iLok AU plugin issue as mentioned here:Machinesworking wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 5:06 pmOh it's not just iLok. Re: LIVE 12 VST compatibility
Hi all,
Hope this might help someone who is having issues with VST plugins. I was having issues with a lot of plugins both VST3 and VST2 versions. Most of my Native Instruments plugins and a number of other 3rd party plugins weren't loading. Although they appeared in my plugin list, when I tried to load them it would either say the VST plugin could not be found (and load that blank plugin), or crash Live 12. I'm running Windows 11.
The issue in my case was a permission issue. Setting Live 12 to always run as an administrator in the application properties, and adding Live 12 as an allowed app for Controlled Folder access in Windows Security has fixed the problem for me I think. I'm guess the lack of permissions was preventing Live from being able to access the file directories it needs.
Hope this solves someone's issues! All the best.
Peace!
