Expression Pedal with Push 3

Help appreciated as I'm struggling to find information on the functionality of using an expression pedal with Push 3. I have a Roland EV-5 which works fine connected to a Prophet REV2. By working fine, I mean LIVE receives midi messages and I can assign it to devices. Connecting the expression pedal to Push 3 , port 1 and setting to trigger. I get no midi messages in LIVE. Has anyone got an expression pedal to work in Push 3 and what functionality does it provide?

unless they've changed the wording since you referenced it, they say it supports sustain pedals, not expression pedals.
I was going to take advantage of chase bliss' EXP summer sale, so I looked things up just now
