MIDI record capture limited to 8 bars?

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but when I use MIDi record capture, only 8 bars show up. I can extend the clip so that it shows the rest of the MIDI data, but it's not good for me (especially if I'm overlaying lengthy drum parts).

I am working in Arrangement view (in case that makes any difference).

What am I doing wrong?

Why not simply record when you are overlaying lengthy drum parts?

Then you can take advantage of other features like loop recording and comping too.
