Consolidating multiple clips without combining

There are times I am taking small snippets of audio or MIDI from a larger clip. I need to consolidate these, but I don't want to combine the clips. Currently you have to click each individual clip to consolidate because if you highlight multiple clips, it will combine them when you consolidate. It would be very helpful to be able to consolidate multiple clips without combining. Thank you.
