I cant decide if I should use those VST Wrappers, (Valhalla, Khz, UAD). They look nice and make the workflow better. Is there any downside?
What if the the plugin gets an update and the wrapper not? I don't think you can simple replace the Wrapper with the original VST without loosing the parameter setting. So do you use them?
I wish Ableton would make something like this native or update the "Configure" of VST with more possibility's.

Re: VST Wrappers
You bring up valid points. I would like to add that not all wrappers have a high build quality and can negatively impact the Live set or simply don't look right. However, the same applies to all Max devices.
The wrappers I have seen also lack access to presets.

Re: VST Wrappers
I came across a post on reddit regarding bypassing master plugins (including latency) where a user suggested that M4L wrappers for VSTs allow you to bypass the latency. Anyone able to confirm this?

mod: not paid enough for this
I know if you build M4L wrappers for them you can bypass their latency. There may even be a way to do it without a wrapper. I recommend not using latency-enduing plugins on the master, or having your mastering be in a separate project.
Re: VST Wrappers
these claim that they can do this:
https://elisabethhomeland.gumroad.com/l ... ut=profile
"When you bypass the devices their latency will always drop to 0! This is not possible with the original VST3/AU plugins that are not wrapped into a MaxForLive device. They’ll always keep their latency even if they’re bypassed. (This feature is suited for recording situations, not Live performances! read more about it below!)"

Would be cool if Ableton had a auto-wrapper you could drag and drop a VST plugin onto that would allow bypassing of latency for those of us not using Live in a "live" situation. Or just provide a way to remove latency on disabled plugins.
