Hi, I just want to second your call for the possibility to have the current time position shown on screen and not only the time ruler at the bottom ... I came here searching exactly for the same -as I do like Live very much (especially since V12), it also was rather astonishing for me (coming from using Bitwig, mostly for its MPE capabilities), that it is not integrated in Lives GUI like in all other DAWs I know (as you mentioned, either side by side with the view for the bars, or clicking onto it, switching between bars/time view).
Now I am using the Max4Live Device "Transport Time" by Studio Secrets to have this "feature" also in Ableton Live, which is great that it exists, so thanks to Studio Secrets for providing this for free!
But I really also would apreciate having this inside Lives GUI just from the beginning ...
:)

I created a Max device that displays the time in H:mm:ss.ms format in a moveable popup window.
https://maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=10499

Edit: I updated the device since it did not display leading zeros for minutes and seconds.
I also added an option to hide the fast-moving milliseconds.

Maybe a stupid question...
Have you custom themes enabled?

No, but I see what you mean.
The device should use the colors of the current Live theme, but I see it does not always do so.
I'll take a look at it this evening.

Edit:
I have uploaded a new version of the device that should now always follow the Live theme.
Please let me know if this is also the case for you.

:D N1 Rivanni

My prior question was for the thread opener ;)
I saw a minimal risk, a custom theme would have greyed out tho white font in the time-ruler.

But it seems, your device has profited too.
