midi setup with MPC in ableton 4....please help....:)

Post by en2 » Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:01 pm

first off is anybody running ableton 4 with an akai mpc 2000xl on macOSX?

Oh heres the deal, I have had the akai mpc for a while now and I decided to integrate with the macmini that i just bought...doing this with the focusrite saphire. the audio/midi firewire interface works as I can input audio and record fine...but please someone help me with the midi aspect of connecting my mpc. from what i have gathered on the mpctutor forum that i go to, you need to have the ins and out of the mpc connected to the interface and vice versa.

all i want to do at this point is be able to record the midi from the mpc into live so that i can sync up all my seperate tracks. as of this point with all the different variations of different settings that i have tried, i have not been able to see any recorded midi within live, only recorded audio........please, please help. i feel like an idiot.

what settings do i need in the AUDIO/MIDI application within the utilities folder in applications?

what settings do i need in the preferences of ableton?

what settings do i need in MIDI SYNC control panel on my mpc?

thanks ahead of time for any help :D

Ok so

You have to set your mpc midi output to live midi input first

arm the midi track

and press record

poum tsiii clac

Only the 1k uses midi clock. The rest of the mpc series uses midi time code.
