I'm sitting here typing this on an M1 Air, I set the buffer to 32 and I get less than 4% CPU with zero crackling using the built in drum rack. Something is amok, old RME driver, OS needs updating, something besides the M1 is causing your issues, Sonoma is stable now, and RME almost always have a new driver out, that could be it.Dubprince wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 11:03 pmI am on Ventura. I tried two different M1 Macbooks. Both have the same problem.
When you talk about problems with plugins do you mean the ableton stock plugins as well? Because I was only using
a drum rack in that case.
I was also a little bit unclear in my comparison. When I use a buffer size of 256 I can safely play a 4 bar pattern on the selector drum rack without crackling. anything below has the risk of crackling. It is just 1 drum rack/track though. The whole project is empty. Just this one drum rack. The crackling only comes at the moment I start the playback or whenever the loop restarts and I can always see the cpu jump in the red at that point.
Tried it on a windows laptop and I can play it at 64 buffer size without any problems.

Actually, even that sounds more plausible than their own excuse about not having "resources". What resources, a finger on a mouse clicking "Save As"?lincolnkid wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 3:45 pmThey're taking a financial cut from all the youtube and tiktok videos out there explaining the new features in the absence of a proper manual.forestcaver wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 3:12 pm...so I was trying to think of commercial reasons not to allow customers to read a decent offline manual - making money may possibly be one reason...![]()

When you are talking about CPU do you mean average or current CPU?
I am using a selector drum rack. Meaning some pads have like 50+ samples on them. On some pads there are multiple small percussion loops.
Maybe I didn't make it clear before. It is not like I just have a basic drum rack open. If I use a normal drum rack like 606 Core kit, then even on the internal sound card and a buffer of 32 the cpu will be 6%.
That is the average CPU though. The current CPU goes over 100% whenever I start the playback and well over 80% whenever the loop repeats.
When I just look at the average CPU with the selector drum rack it will max out at 8% but on the average CPU it reaches 300%+ numbers and will start crackling.
I wasn't trying to say a basic drum rack produced those high CPU numbers and crackling.

I think they have sacked so many people recently that they accidentally got rid of the person named on the Adobe Acrobat license.

You mentioned the Selector Drum Rack, that's what I ran. No crackling. Something is wrong with your system. It's not the M1 chip.Dubprince wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 4:50 pmWhen you are talking about CPU do you mean average or current CPU?

I think we'd have more impact by posting on Ableton's more public facing social media pages. Maybe try and get some social media "influencers" on board too....

I’ve been using the Cubase manual. It’s helped me solve all kinds of things I’ve had trouble with in Live 12

Nope, not Live 12
But it has been like going from a red-lined 4 cylinder to a V12
Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
Thanks for reminding this!
No matter how frustrating is the situation wrt to the manual, please stay on topic or create another thread.

Just as a hypothetical.
If somebody wrote a python script to scrape the L12 html manual off the Ableton site , then used a local script to delete all the redundant html elements and then exported those resultant pages as a pdf just so he could search the damn thing
I wonder if Ableton would be really annoyed by that. In a legal copyright infringement sort of way. If somebody had done that. Hypothetically.
I mean. If he just had it on his machine that would surely be fine. But if he started to hand it out to people. For instance. That would probably be bad.
But what about if he mentioned the techniques? Hmmm
An interesting hypothetical all round.
And as an additional one.
I wonder about the moral implications of asking chatGPT the question

More importantly, what are the moral implications of a company releasing complex expensive software without a decent manual...
