I don’t know if this has any influence on the results, but it appears you are using mp3 files. If I’m not mistaken ( things have changed over the past few years ), Live has to render the mp3 files into a non-compressed format. There might be some strange behavior shifting everything when it is rendered???

but if I load the same project in AB11 and 12, I only have the problem in 12.. idk if that has anything to do with rendering ?

it's the Start, that seems to be the problem., it's not taking it from the beginning.

made a copy of the mp3 and let it re-create the analytic file for the mp3, and same behavior.

I'm happy to create a package file with that piece , so you can see it for yourself.

I won’t be of much help. I’m just trying to think of each step in the process that could affect your situation.

Definitely sounds like a bug that should be reported. Also curious which OS you’re using etc.

I am using windows 11. Icore 9 64 Gb Ram

i posted that part of the project here on onedrive : https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiFsZBUm7Hnr42XSut1 ... Y?e=Dg43aB

Feel free to see it for yourself.. that's where you see the shifting when zoom in and out. and the beat is off.

it loads fine in Ableton 11. although i exported in 12, so it might not work backwards.. i would need to do it in 11 then.

This is probably the reason, as compressed files such as mp3 have varying amounts of padding at the start. It would be best to use only uncompressed files, but see what support have to say

but why does it work fine in 11 then with mp3.

could be a bug in that part.. idk.. guess i'll have to wait on Support.. for now, i'll stick with 11.

Also... I just noticed.. if I zoom in in the Wave at the bottom to put markers down, it will shift too.. once you zoom in deeper..
so the markers are useless..

I just tried it the same file, but then in WAV format, and it's doing the same thing.

so, i tried this... renamed the ASD file.
and let it rebuilt, and that seemed to resolved the shifting when i zoom in and out.
BUT.. it does show all the marker on the wrong places now. and the song is still off beat, since it's cut off in the beginning.

Wav file or not.. that does not matter.

You should definitely contact support at this point and see if they can help you:

Support

I don’t think you’re going to find the answer to your issue here.

This happens with me as well! It has been driving me absolutely bonkers!

Right now, the only thing I can think of is that perhaps it removes that silence that is usually embedded at the start of an MP3.

If anybody can figure out the solution to this, it would be of great help. I have gone through months of projects, realizing half way through (and after many, many edits) that clips are not perfectly aligned.

Well, they seem to have given up on my tickets.

it's still happening, and the funny thing is , that part that gets clipped. is put somewhere on the track far far after that.
When you zoom in, you see pieces of each song on a track.. at least for me.

also noticed now, that in 12, if you zoom out a little bit of where the shifting happens. all the sudden it shifts back in place. ?????????????????

but the music is still way off....
This begs the question, could you hear a difference in the timing? It's possible this is a graphics bug, especially since it's exhibiting this behavior.

Had this happen on a simple re-edit I'd done on a released track. All the warp markers were off by 1 step. Correcting the start point seemed to fix, but what I was getting was exactly like the OP - beats were off grid for no reason.

I didn't check if it was a Live 11 vs Live 12 thing as the project I saw this on was from Live 10 or Live 9 which aren't installed anymore.

that was a graphic bug maybe? I had to the delete the generated file from the wav or mp3 and let it re-generate and then it was fine.
