Push 3 audio usable in parallel with other audio hardware?

Post by _malte_ » Wed Jul 24, 2024 9:46 pm

Hi!

I'm thinking about getting a Push 3 (controller version, not the stand-alone version). Currently, I'm exploring a bit what I can do with it - and what I can't.

On one topic I only found indirect info so far, here and elsewhere. I learned that Push 3 comes with its own audio hardware, and even provides an ADAT interface. In my current setup, I'm using Live on a Windows PC with an UMC1820 connected to an ADA8200 via ADAT. The obvious question is now if I can use my Behringer gear in parallel with the Push 3 audio hardware, increasing the amount of audio I/O channels available in Live significantly (at max +10).

I read some general things about it being a problem to use different audio interfaces together at the same time because of the ASIO drivers. Is that true also here, specifically for Live in combination with Push 3 or does Ableton provide a specific solution here? Also, I read that ASIO4ALL is in general a possibility to run different audio hardware in parallel. Has anyone tried that out in combination with the Push audio hardware? Does it work stable and reliable?

I'm sorry if I overlooked something on that topic here in the forums. I would then be very thankful if someone could point me to the corresponding threads. And otherwise, thanks a lot for all hints and tips on that topic!

Best,
Malte

1 - You're not forced to use Push's audio interface
2 - I'm sorry I don't know how it works on Windows, but just for the sake of providing informations in this area, it works on macOS (by creating an aggregated device). It might be worth checking the Knowledge Base is you haven't already.

Obviously I'm not ... :D However, for my little home studio it would be a significant step-up to gain 10 (including adat) audio i/o channels. That's why I was asking.

I read about that possibility on Mac, however, I switched to Windows many years ago. So at least me personally would be interested if it’s somehow possible on Windows machines in a reliable and stable manner. Actually, I hoped there was a proprietary out-of-the-box solution with Live. I haven't found anything obvious in the knowledge base.
