record button behaving weird when mappes

hi all.
ive got the record button mapped to a key.
when i click it with the mouse it behaves normally but when i use the key it stops all clips in the arrangement from playing.
any ideas why?

Is the key mapped to other buttons?
What key do you use to map the record button?

that was it. somehow id mapped the same button to 'stop all clips' lol.
