Performance Pack
Performance Pack
Love this Pack. A potential game changer.
However my experience with the Perform device is bumpy. Assignments and mapping is very unstable.
Loosing connection, acting a bit erratic. A design options for user layouts. Some colour please.
Iftah's fantastically detailed& deliciously deadpan tutorial video

The variations device appears to have issues too

Can we all agree on a single device for Variations. 101 Maxforlive device including this one.
Which should we use?
Why is Ableton's own device not up to scratch?
I hope somebody is working on an update, if they have time, because the Performance Pack has so much potential for inspiration.

Re: Performance Pack
These are very complex devices code-wise and you should definitely forward your issues to Support.
What controller are you using with the Perform device?

MidiFighter Twister & LaunchControlXL.What controller are you using with the Perform device?
It feels more like a software/save issue. "Ctrl+m" shows the mappings are there. The Performance device also shows the mappings in it's "Macro Editor" but they don't respond. After deleting, followed by a remap, they work again.
Re: Performance Pack
Well 2, if you count the Variations device in the Performance pack & Live's built in version that is accessed when you create racks. What do you mean by this? There is only one Variations device.
Plus, there are many, many devices that do something similar or augment Live's version available from

Third party devices are not relevant.
Variations in a rack are not a device, but a feature of a rack.

Agree that Third Party devices are not relevantThird party devices are not relevant.
Irrelevant but true.Rack variations are not a device.Variations in a rack are not a device, but a feature of a rack.
But they look pretty similar, have a similar name & do similar things.
And I'm guessing Iftah probably used as reference when making his own DEVICE.
Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure when I started the topicThis topic is about the Performance pack, which contains just one Variations device.
Re: Performance Pack
Hey!
I just started out with Performance Pack a few days ago and still wonder: is there no way to get the proper names and values of the controls displayed on Push 2? If I use an arpeggiator for example I'd like the rate value to be "1/16", not "0.578" (or whatever). And I would like to be able to rename the controls and ideally the banks as well. Only that would really allow me to control my whole set from performer, taking advantage of the potential powers of Performaner. The workaround of mapping and renaming macros only helps with names but not with the values.
Or am I missing out on something? Thanks!

Re: Performance Pack
No thats not possible, names for Push screen are intiated when a device loads so re-mapping them after doesn't change the text. The same with the values, many things that you map to are a list of values rather than a straight 0 - 127 so again can't be updated after the device has initiated.Jickx wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:24 pmHey!

The only way o do it is to open the device and edit the short and long name of the dials etc. then save the device with your updated names, it's not something I'd advise on such a complex device.

Re: Performance Pack
Thanks for your reply! That's a dealbreaker for me. Too bad, Performer looked so promising…S4racen wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:39 pmNo thats not possible, names for Push screen are intiated when a device loads so re-mapping them after doesn't change the text. Re: Performance Pack
It's limitation of Live rather than the device it should be noted.
