SOLVED: Render as Loop question

Post by ripp76 » Sun Sep 29, 2024 2:18 pm

Hello everyone

I'm asking this question because I think I'm not fully understanding this topic. Let me explain

I'm working on a composition for a videogame of about 1 minute and I'm intend that it can be used as a loop. Let's say that it's for a combat scene of the game, so it will be looping until the combat ends.

Ok, in Ableton the loop works perfectly fine, but the problem is when I render the mix to a WAV file. I'm using the option "Render as Loop" in the export menu, so it will keep the reverb effects and blend them to the beginning of the song. Well, the loop is fantastic and really smooth, but the problem is when I actually start the song for the first time, I can hear the reverb tail at the beginning, so for some miliseconds you'll be hearing the end of the song when the song plays for the fist time. Of course, once it's looping everything is fine, but for the first time it's not.

I think this is the way that Render as Loop works, the manual is clear in that aspect, but I can't deliver a song like this, I need it to start as it really is and then loop it smoothly.

So how do you deal with this? Maybe there's an option I'm not aware of.

Thank you in advance.

Render as loop, insert as clip, set clip play marker in at 50% of the clip, render again. Sounds appropriate?

It seems there was no hidden option. Seems to be something that's happening with East West Opus violins.

I've tried to automate the reverb to be turned off at the end of the song, but those violins were still there when the song starts.

So I've tried by getting violins a bit shorter in the end, so they won't reach the last bar, and the problem seems to be solved. I've tried to restore the reverb and it's working fine now. So clearly the problem were those violins. Probably this won't be happening with other libraries, but as I'm using EastWest as my primary library, the workaround is to cut a bit those instruments that are going to the beginning of the song.

Thanks for reading!
Happy composing!
