Ghost notes - show midi notes and audio waveforms at same time?

Post by Jimmyalenius » Wed Oct 09, 2024 4:47 am

When selecting a midi track and a audio waveforms it says there different sources, and I assume I can't mix these in Live like in Reaper?
Is there some other method of editing midi notes on top of a audio waveform in Live?

You are correct. Live tracks are exclusively either MIDI or audio. I confess I don't understand how one would edit MIDI on top of audio or vice versa.
Live does have idea of an External Instrument which is placed on a MIDI track and manages the connect to an external MIDI controller audio source but I don't think that is what you are thing about.

In other DAWs you can see an image of the waveform on a MIDI track so you can align MIDI notes with the transients of the waveform. Makes aligning MIDI notes to recorded music so much easier.

Hi! The reason for wanting to see waveforms and MIDI notes close to each other is to make it easier to work with timing. In Reaper, you can move a MIDI note and immediately see its relation to the waveform. Maybe there are plugins that does this for Live?
