FOR SALE: 12" Powerbook, Evolution UC-33, M-Audio, etc.

Post by AdamJay » Sat Oct 15, 2005 2:29 am

selling a 12" G4 Powerbook 1.5ghz
Combo Drive, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 1.25 GB RAM, airport card, bluetooth, etc.
its basically the $1499 stock model with the ram upgraded from 512MB to 1.25GB RAM. purchased in March '05, still time left on the 1 year Apple warranty if you wish to purchase additional applecare.

its in great condition, only wear is on the front button that unlatches the screen from the closed position (from finger oil), and a little bit of rub-off from finger oil on the space bar.

the ram upgrade came from www.macsales.com its a 1GB Samsung PC-2700 and cost me $169.
So new, this machine is worth $1668,
i'll take $1350 plus Shipping.

Also for Sale:
Evolution UC-33. This is not the "E" version.
I've had this thing for 2 and 1/2 years, bought it the day they were available in stores. Never had an issue with it. i still have the original box and usb cable.
I've toured the hell out of this box though, so its got some wear. there's a good bit of sharpie marked on it, some of the original paint has worn off.
4 of the knobs and 4 of the sliders have been painted silver, and all the pointers on the black knobs have been painted silver for easier identification of knob position.
I'll take $100 USD plus shipping for it

and an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile.
excellent condition. original box, power supply, and i'll throw in a 6ft shielded Firewire cable thats much better than the original cable.
$100 USD plus shipping

if interested in any of these items either reply here,
PM me, or email me at djadamjay at gmail dot com
I'm in Indianapolis, USA 46219 and should be able to get shipping quotes on request. I have no preference for shipping companies, USPS/FedEX/UPS are all fine by me, i'll leave that up to the buyer(s)

In case you were wondering, I'm selling to help raise money for a modified mixing console, and some of the money i get from these sales will go back into buying a Mac Mini to use instead.
I can do without the laptop because i don't really play that many gigs anymore, and the few i do play are for DJing vinyl. and i'd like to focus more on studio production (hence the acquistion of the console) for the next year or two.

inis, piece of mind really.
the originally firewire cable just didn't seem like a quality cable to me.

hey adam,

sorry to hijack without buying anything, but it's interesting you're going that way saying you're not doing much live and want to focus on studio - I've been totally thinking the other way round that the only way I'll be able to make any money from music is to play live. I just have been really getting the feeling that downloads + sheer number of people out there doing it have made for a totally unprofitable record industry.

I'd love to hear otherwise if you're finding differently because I'm much more experienced in the studio, but I've been really getting a different feeling, right down to jst hearing my next release is not coming out any more because the label has gone under.

Are you still able to generate cash from record sales - if so is is purely techno, how do you do it?

cheers

forge, no worries on not buying anything. you inadvertently bumped my for sale thread.

for me, releasing records and playing gigs go hand and hand. i can't really do one without the other. over the last 4 years i put out alot of music on vinyl, and it led to several gigs in several places. but my productivity in the studio has severely tapered off in the last year. I have about 30-40 tracks sitting unfinished on my hard drive, and its time to focus not only on finishing those tracks but producing new music without any distractions. I've got the muse going right now, lots of stress in my life and oddly enough that has translated to great productivity in the past. However i would like to go back to a mix of analog/digital. Most of those records i put out where produced in a similar manner and i'd like to "get back to my roots" so to speak.

also, the engineer in me has come out in the last few months more than ever before. with the purchase of this console i would also have the facilities to mix a few live shows, and record a few bands on the weekends. (nothing inspires your own music like having to record others, especially if you don't enjoy it, ha!)

yeah, I do know what you mean,

just bought some great tunes of beatport and I've been collecting the "best of" the last 5 years of bits I've half finished and odddly enough just getting them as audio files and putting them in a DJ style ALS with some of these cool tunes and the UC33 going I am amazed at how much mileage I'm getting out of stuff I thought was no go, so I'm having a brilliant time at the moment and hope to upload my very 1st Ableton mix real soon (would you believe despite the time I've been on board the Ableton love boat I have never actually rendered a full ableton mix before - for me it has been EXCLUSIVELY a production tool for single tracks!)

so I'm having loads of fun, but the pressure is on now more than ever to start earning some cash and there is something in me now that almost refuses to do anything but what I know by the age of 30, I'm starting to really feel it's time it started paying its way. The releases I've had so far paid reasonable advances but nothing more.

I have set up enough PAs for insanely boring corporate corpses and just finished a whole batch of the most tedious ring tones for mobile phones you could comprehend and something in me is saying enough.

In all honesty I havent done a decent demo run in a long long time and the releases I have had got a decent bit of exposure in it's genre , but time to start making most of it!!

That's the thing with live, it's so easy to get carried away and not finish things because I get so much in to just the fun of jamming a tune I never quite get around to finishing it. well its been like that for me anywy - (that's the main reason I've stop smoking weed!!)

wow that was a rant..... :?

and!!!! i'll knock off $50 if anyone wants the PB AND the Firewire Audiophile.

so thats $1400 USD for the PB + Soundcard + Koolsink stand

would you consider overseas postage....to Aus?

I'm not too sure how much it would be, but it sounds like it would be considerably cheaper then buying all of that over here.

Also, which operating system is it running...?
