Hey all -
I know I'm not the only one that has used Live for MANY years in Rewire with my main DAW. Would love to collect solutions here.
My current system:
Mac OS Sonoma 14.7
Mac Studio M2
Logic Pro
Ableton Live Audio Buffer: 128
Sample Rate: 48k
MIDI Clock is sent from Logic Virtual Midi out into Ableton.
"Sync" is selected in Ableton Live's [Link,Tempo&MIDI] settings on the "Logic Pro Virtual Out" input port
"Ext" button (on transport bar of LIVE) activated
3rd Party Audio App used: Loopback by Rogue Ameoba (with source as a Pass-Thru)
End Result:
Pros:
Live will Sync song position and tempo with Logic.
Playback is free from glitches.
Cons:
Audio has delay/latency so noticeable I have to drag all wave forms backwards in time to compensate. This requires more strategic tempo changes so that I always have at least a beat of the new tempo before any waveform sounds (to avoid a portion playing in the wrong tempo). Annoying, but only workaround I've found so far. Rogue Amoeba told me that are working on reducing the latency further.

Re: Live 12 REWIRE SOLUTIONS
Unfortunately, Ableton Link isn't particularly comparable to ReWire as it's just relatively loosely syncing time between devices (accurate, but nowhere near sample-accurate, and is worse than a lot of decades-only solutions for sync). More info here from Charlie Clouser: https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... st-5251799cids wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 8:05 amDid you ever try Ableton Link?

For me, the big one is nothing does sample-accurate sync between DAWs now, ergo for doing seamless loops in game music, it's a total pain in the arse, likewise, if you do music for picture, it's problematic. ReWire worked beautifully for piping audio (256 channels simultaneously) and MIDI (4080 channels simultaneously) between DAWs too, and that made life much easier, whereas Ableton Link doesn't move any audio or MIDI, it's exclusively for loosely syncing, and does not sync timeline (limited).
I can only hope that Ableton releases a new version of Ableton Link that goes beyond the current feature set. Even as it stands, it unfortunately isn't sample-accurate. There's nothing else quite like Ableton Live, but it can't be everything to everybody, nor should it try to be, hence ReWire made a ton of sense. I'm loving seeing Ableton Link get supported by more and more software and hardware (it's pretty cool how friction-less it is, even if it isn't perfect), if only it did audio and MIDI at the same level as ReWire too.

Yeah, link is completely useless for what I do (and for replacing re-wire)
