Is there a way to know the INTENDED instrument in a drum midi file?

something that's been bugging me for a while is when I buy pre-programmed drum midi files from a company like Groove Monkey for example, sometimes when I load one of the drum midi files into an Ableton drum kit, some notes (each note of a midi drum file always represents a different instrument of a drum kit like Tom, Snare, etc) don't appear in Ableton with names like Snare or Kick, etc. Instead, that instrument of a drum midi file might end up being played on a note such as G3 or A4. Without knowing the intended instrument for that midi note, it is virtually impossible to, for example, replace that note with one of the samples in our library, as one doesn't know the intended instrument. The note in question named G3 or A4 is often not being played even, so one cannot even just listen and guess what kind of percussion instrument it's supposed to be. Any ideas on how to work around this problem?

It could be a GM Drum layout. Can search general midi drum and see if maybe the note you’re referring to correlates to what Could be occurring in the pattern.
