MIDI patterns with chosen notes

Post by DiegoBenjamin » Fri Oct 25, 2024 11:07 am

Please, do you know of any way to make midi rhythmic/melodic patterns with only the notes I choose.

For example: making patterns with the notes C1, E1 and D2

Mmmh, could you be more specific about what you’re trying to do exactly, what works and what doesn’t, what are you constraints etc… ?
Because, notes are primarily used to make patterns.

I was about to ask for more details, but [jur] beat me to it :) Are you wanting to generate something randomly or automatically? Or just make it easier to program manually?

If the latter, you could put dummy notes with the specified pitches in a MIDI clip, then turn on 'fold'. Then, you can edit using a limited set of lanes representing only the notes of interest. That's just a convenience though, of course - ultimately it's basically the same as just programming the MIDI directly and only using the notes you want to use.

That would be a nice feature, but even that might not meet the OP's needs. The impression I get is that they want to constrain to a specific set of pitches, not just pitch classes, and I don't know if the current scale system would allow for that.
