How to automatically select an Instrument Rack inside a chain?

Apologies if this has been asked, I searched quite a bit and could not find what I'm trying to accomplish.

I have a P3S, and on it is a track set up to trigger and play different keyboard sounds for each song in a set. The track has a "song select" Instrument Rack whose chains are loaded up with different instruments. There are MIDI clips on the track, titled by the song, which will select the needed instruments in the chain and also set the scale.

The issue is, the only way to adjust the macros of each instrument chain is to expand the track display and manually select the instrument chain. What I would LIKE to do is have the instrument chain automatically selected so its macros are displayed on the Push.

The way I approached this with a Push/laptop combo was to fire off a MIDI note with each clip, and then use the IAC Bus to MIDI map that note to select the instrument chain. Standalone, there is no IAC Bus or MIDI loopback solution.

The only solution I can think of at the moment is to use a second controller in tandem to fire off each song rather than keeping it all in the Push.

Hopefully this makes sense and someone out there has a solution I've overlooked?

I don´t have Push, so just a guess: There is an arrow above the chains. If active, the controls change with selecting the chain. You don´t need to manually select the chain. See chapter 20.4.1 Auto Select:

Thanks for chiming in. I did try the auto-select button (not available specifically on the Push, but I made sure the session had this enabled before transferring to the Push). Unfortunately, it works on the laptop but not on the Push.

Hey, just wanted to update this—I recently updated Live and the Push to the latest version, did not test it out before a show (risky, I know) and then at the show learned this behavior now works!

I don't know if it's something that didn't work previously, and does with the update; or if it always worked and needed all the right pieces together. But I can verify auto-select does indeed auto-select the chain and updates the macros on the Push.
