Hi,
The last time I used Ableton was at the start of v 11. Just want to find out whether by now Ableton has the ability to link midi clips at different spots in a track and across tracks? Meaning, If I edit one, the other changes as well.

Re: Linked MIDI clips? (not looped)
Unfortunately it's indeed a no
This has been a long requested feature (if not mistaken over a decade long...)
If I remember correctly, I read in another forum or centercode thread that it's not so easy to implement because of software architecture boundaries of session and arrangement and how they interact together (or actually not). But this really is bitty knowledge..
I'd really like to see this feature, too. It would be so nice to have a "main" clip e.g. in the session view and copies of those in my arrangement. And when I want to change a velocity of a note I just need to change it once in the main clip. Would be such a time safer and workflow improvement...
Even if it just was possible in arrangement or session view it would be a great addtion to Live.
I lost hope a bit tbh..
There is a M4L plugin which kind of does the job. I have it and it works. But you need to be bit carefull using it and it's a bit clumsy and e.g. it does not sync automation. Nothing against the plugin. It's great, giving the limited possibilites the developer had and how much time he might have needed to come up with a solution at all. Though, it is a workaround and likely not competitive with a native Ableton solution. But still nice that it exists at all.
Plugin you can find here: http://jgarcia.hungry.jp/project/alias-clips/
And you might already know: other threads with this topic you can also find by searching "ghost clips" or "alias clips"
Also feel free to vote on centercode for it. But I have the feeling it does not really help tbh.. As it has been such a long requested feature and for previous versions also has been under the high rated requests.

Re: Linked MIDI clips? (not looped)
I left Ableton because of this. I just keep it installed to go back to old projects and get presets and things.

Ive been wanting to leave ableton over this for 15 years.

Link to the centre code vote for Live 12 https://ableton.centercode.com/project/ ... 1f2c5ee755 .
If that link doesnt work then search "alias"

It seems like there's some deep structural inability for clips to each other , like how the session and arrangement are like two disconnected apps.
