This error's happening to me too. I just upgraded to 12.1.1 from 11.
My indexer.txt also shows an error about a Jenkins file on a non-existent F: drive.

Thanks to those posting with issues/clues - it's helped me at least get the crashing to stop so I can actually use Live without interruption every 30-60s.

The fix for me (for now) was similar - In the Places section within Ableton, I had a shortcut to my Ableton folder. Removing that has stopped the crashing.

Frustrating as I use that folder as my starting point when looking for tracks/stems from different projects quite often.

Really a shame this has been going on for 2 months now with no acknowledgement or fix in sight. Kind of frustrating as a user who immediately paid to upgrade to Live 12, only to not get to use one of its key features (sound similarity search) due to having to disable Sound Content Analysis just to prevent this crash from happening. Ableton folks, ??? Any word on fixing this?

I noticed Live 12.1.5 is out now, and in the changelog it mentions: "Fixed a bug which caused the background scanning Indexer to crash when analyzing certain audio files with untypical bit depths."

Alas, it has not fixed my issues – I'm still getting the same "Ableton Index.exe" crashes after updating. Curious if this fixed anyone else's problems.

Latest beta 12.1.10b1 has fixed my crashing. Bugfixes state "Fixed an Indexer crash which occurred when analyzing certain corrupted or unsupported audio files," which I'm guessing is my issue, at least. Lost so much time trying to catch the bug. Can't believe stable still has it

Nope, same boat as you.

Issues with Ableton index crashing since upgraded to 12, did a complete reinstall of 12.1.5 but still running into the same issue. I have an ungodly number of samples (crashes at 590,486) so narrowing down exactly what is causing an issue is a no-go without more information. If nothing else I'd love it if the indexer file could at least tell me what file is throwing the issue

Yeah, same situation here. I'm getting tired of having every session turn into trouble-shooting. On support's suggestion, I have now upgraded various drivers, and even upgraded to Windows 11. Kept working in 12.0.25 for a while, until I ran into an issue (probably a plugin this time) that messed up my set. I thought that was a good opportunity to try the latest version of Live again (also as per support's suggestion). The set still froze on launch, so I rebuilt it from a previous version, and then Live started acting up again. The analysis crash dialogue keeps popping up, and the Live GUI will randomly freeze for up to ten seconds. This is so frustrating...

The good news is that this seems to be fixed in the latest beta, version 12.1.10. Not sure when it will be officially released but hopefully soon (in the next month or two?). You can join the beta if you want to (just google Ableton Beta), personally I'm gonna try to wait for the official release but it's nice to know the fix is already implemented in the next version of Live which will certainly be coming out at some point.

Just joining this to say im also having the same issue on both my pc and my laptop now after updating to the latest version on my laptop.

Im also having disk read issue on both devices on new and old projects since updating, audio will drop out while ableton says it cant load the samples fast enough.

Make sure to report to Support, there still might be some type of files of maybe characters in files' names that cause issue.
BTW, you can disable Similarity Search in Preferences > File & Folder and see if that helps.
