In Cubase you can scroll on the mouse and change whatever value the mouse is hovering
It's so direct, fast, natural and ergonomical
You should add this functionality in Ableton.
Just make it optional, then many will be happy and nobody will cry

One thing I really miss on Ableton is the ability to quickly change a value/level using the mouse wheel

I second this, it really needs to be made possible to use the mouse scroll wheel.
Twisting virtual dials in Ableton by holding the mouse button and then having to move the mouse up and down to change value is doing my head in.

In terms of ergonomics, Live is terrible.
But it's not just about ease of use, it's actually important for preventing RSI.
Devs should take a look at Blender, so much could be learnt.

I would like to see more scroll-wheel implementations - at least as an option.:
1.: at the bottom of each track in live-view there is a rectangle that displays the color of the track and in combination with those from other tracks it forms a scroll bar (red rectangle) and when ur mouse is on top of this tiny little strip, then u can use the scrollwheel, but its a very tiny area where u can use it. My request: when my mouse is in the live view and in scope of tracks (~blue rectangle), i want to be able to scroll left and right with my scrollwheel to quickly get to the track i want to edit.
Example:
The red box highlights the existing scroll bar but i want the content to be scrollable in the whole blue rectangle.
2.: when my mouse is over the "Device View Selector" i want to use the scroll wheel to scroll left and right. With dragging left/right I often overshoot and i imagine that woudn´t do that with a "(fine) scroll wheel adjustment"
