How do groove algorithms work in Ableton?

Is someone able to explain how precisely groove algorithms work in Ableton?

I’ve done some testing, but I still can’t really figure out exactly what happens when I apply a groove to a midi clip.

When are note durations modified? What happens when there’s more than one note within the groove’s timing resolution (base)?

I think I’m looking for a more detailed explanation than the one provided in the Using Groove section of the manual.

Thank you for sharing, but I think this only covers the basics already available in the manual.
