Hi all,
I've been a long LONG time user of Ableton 9 and the biggest shortcoming i have today in Ab.11 is that i no longer can move left & right in the project while presseng the left or right arrow key.
Before, when i had a long recording, i could move sideways and Ctrl X whatever i wanted to cut out. Now, whenever i move, it takes the sample on that position to the right (which i hate - cuz i wanna move further along in the long recording, not carry forward the same piece)
Is there a way to change back to the old ways, so that i can use the arrows to navigate on the timeline, rather than carry forward the sample of where i am.
Hope my problem is clear
Thanks in advance
I miss moving left & right with arrows

There's an option to disable this feature in the Preferences.

And whats the name of this feature? Cuz i dont even know what to call "this" problem
I've gone through settings > look & feel, but nothing sticks out as potentially that.
Have tried disabling stuff but its not that...
So if you could be bit more precise as to what this is called or where to find it, it would be of great help
Cuz right now i dont even know what to call this problem

Re: I miss moving left & right with arrows
& the wierdest part of all is, it now just worked is i intended.
While a loop was playing, I was able to move forward in the project, without ableting moving the actual sample that i was on, after Ctrl X & V'ing to slice that small part in total recording, after this slicing, i was able to moveforward & ctx X & V other parts...
I didnt touch anything because as soon as i clicked somewhere, it was broken again. So the feature is in there, they just changed something that makes it harder to get it & now i cant get it back. Drives me nuts

Re: I miss moving left & right with arrows
i think i found it, although its far more annoying to do than before
step 1: Select a part in the stem, loop it, and then while playing drag "loopselectionbar" forward with your mouse so that the "play"(howtocallit) moves forward in time into your next selected loop bar. now you can move Left & right with the arrows throughout the project
if you then find a next part in the loop that you like you can easily CTRL X & CTRL V to cut out a part you like
if you wish to color it differently you lose the moving thing and you have to go back to step 1.
Hope this helps
PS: Ableton dev's. I dont not feel that Ableton has become more userfriendly than before, this is not the only thing that bothers but it was the most annoying one

When you click inside the clip or in an empty space. you move the playhead.
When you click inside the clip header, you move the clip.
Press Escape if you want to stop moving the clip.
