Addictive Drums and Samples on same drum rack

Post by rabs » Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:14 pm

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help.

I am trying to setup up a single drum rack, with the lower 8 pads playing addictive drums (which I can MIDI map), and then use the upper 8 for samples...for live finger drumming purposes on my 16 pad controller and / or Push.

I can't seem to work out how to do this, as when I add an External Instrument for Addictive Drums on the lower pads, the upper 8 pads also play the Addictive Drum sounds, even when I load a sample on that cell.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Attached is an image of the setup that I usually use for XO. I adjusted it for AD2 and added a Kick and Snare. Imagine Bus 3 to 8 are the other drum sounds.
I have AD2 loaded on a random drum pad I don't use.
The first eight pads each contain an External Instrument.
In the External Instrument, MIDI To is set to the track that houses the drum rack.
Audio From is the channel in AD2, for example, Kick or Snare.
With this setup I can play it like any Live drum rack on Push.
The other pads are free for using samples, like the 'A3 SLOW ' in the image.

If you set a separate output for each channel in AD2, you can send audio to different tracks in Live (in yellow).
Select the track with the drum rack and then the correct channel from the second drop-down for the input.

I hope this quick and rough answer helps.
