Installation Problems

I was trying to reinstall Ableton 12 today. I uninstalled the previous version, deleted the program data folder, and downloaded the installer. Upon launching the installer I get this error-

"The specified installation folder exists. Please uninstall any other application using the folder or remove it manually"

After acknowledging that error, another box pops up with

"Setup Failed, One of more issues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup. For more information see the log file. 0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation."

This is a new folder with a different name than the previous installation. Here is the end of the log file where the error occurs.

Had the same issue. It worked after I stopped trying to install it on D:// and I allowed it to install to its default location (C://......).

I guess the problem was that installing on another disk drive is not possible.

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue, error 0x80070643.

Here's what happened:
1. I installed Ableton Live 12 free trial, it was working fine.
2. When I restarted my laptop and looked for the app, I could not find it via Search. I checked Program files and the only folder visible there was Ableton Push.
3. I opened the installer but only uninstall was available. I unistalled it.
4. I tried to re-install it and then I kept getting this error even when I deleted everything I could find that is related to Ableton and after multiple restarts.

Please help! I want the trial version in order to finish an Ableton course that I bought! At this moment I cannot afford to buy the full version. I looked all over the support portal for this issue but couldn't find anything. I cannot submit a technical support request because I have the free trial...

p.s. I have Windows 11 and only one drive, C:

Live is installed in C:\ProgramData\Ableton\Ableton Live xxx {where xxx is the exact Edition and version)
If you cannot start Live from here, and you want to reinstall Live, uninstall it the correct way using the setup, and then make sure nothing of the version you are going to install is left in C:\ProgramData\Ableton.
Not even an empty folder.

Actually this folder is hidden, that's why I couldn't find it.
But now I found it and deleted it, and all went well with the re-installation.

SOLUTION: Don't create the folder manually, just edit the path in the textbox (e.g. add "\Ableton").

My little brother has upgraded from ableton 11 to 12 and he keep getting Fatal error 0x80070643 when installing it. i went over to help him and iv tryed everything on the troubleshoot list I deleted every file related to ableton and uninstalled the old one with no success. I tryed to see if the free version of ableton live 12 worked and it did, but the full version he's payed houdreds for doesn't. Do you have any other advice?

Are you trying to install Live in a custom folder?

If you are installing in a custom folder, ensure the folder does not exist. Also, TYPE the desired destination folder when asked for it during the installation. Browsing causes problems.

I had the same issue where I had set a custom location to install and had created the folder myself. I deleted the folder and reran the installer successfully. Thanks all!
