I am a students and I want to buy live12 suite (have EDU discount), but in purchase interface I notice that there is "Please note the education discount is only available when buying a new license and cannot be applied to upgrades."in lower right corner and especially "cannot be applied to upgrades". That' s meaning I can not get live12 suite upgrades after I buying it ? Or is it that just meaing if I want to upgrade live12, I must pay the same price as someone who do not get an EDU discount.

That’s right, no upgrades for EDU licenses. You have to pay full price.

That means you'll get all minor versions upgrade as 12.x.x but will have to pay full price for major upgrades (that is from 13.x.x).
