Hey all...
I record a ton of vocals and audio and one thing that is super annoying is not having a key command that keeps clips in place when you move them up and down the page to a new track...
Feels like I'm always guessing where they should go because on every other DAW I work in you can hold either Option, shift, command or whatever and makes the clip ONLY move vertical so you can fly those regions up and down the page and them not lose their place (especially when you're working with no grid)
Am I missing something in Ableton that allows me to do this?? Seems like a super easy fix to allow movement in one direction only via a key command??
Thanks in advance!
Moving audio regions up and down multiple tracks without losing their place??
Re: Moving audio regions up and down multiple tracks without losing their place??
I do not know the solution to your problem.
One thing I do though is I put a Locator (I just let it default to "1" for speed) where the starting point for the clip should be.
Once that is in place it doesn't matter how far you move up or down the set, you will always be able to see where the clip should land in any track.
It is clunky, but it works and takes little effort.

This is an existing problem. Shift is used to force horizontal direction but not vertical. You can narrow down the grid before moving clips. Same for notes, but at least arrow keys can be used for moving in piano roll
