[Feature request] specify the "default pad layout" for new Sets?

One of the things I love about Ableton Move is that when I create a new set, it gives me random instruments. I enjoy hearing different varieties.

However, I use a pad layout that differs from the default one. If you imagine

Code: Select all

13 14 15 16
9 10 11 12
5 6 7 8
1 2 3 4
The default layout has Kick=1, snare=2, snare=3, rim=4, kick2=5, openhat=6, hat=7, etc.

But if I want a layout where 2=kick, 6 = snare, and 9=hat, and for all of the "new" random kits to (roughly) correspond to this layout, is there a way to make this assignment?

In general I tend to play RH so that it rests on 3, 7, and 11 and would like to assign those to kick, snare, and hat and NOT have to do this reassignment every time I get a new set.

It doesn't have to be like exact every time (maybe the kick will be a tom, maybe the snare will be a snare/kick, maybe the hat will be a ride) but at least something that's closer to the layout would make exploring and practice easier.

If this isn't possible, then I'm wondering if there's suggestions that people might have that could approximate this behavior with Move's current capabilities - maybe a way to reassign the drums within Ableton drum rack as a preset. (I have the Ableton Intro version that came with Move).

Hope this question is clear. Thanks for designing one of the best hardware music machines in the world.
