After several hours of trying to get this done - still no clue why Ableton is not sending the signal to the virtual channel from UAD Console. The main signal from Ableton is going through the main out in Console but not via the virtual channel "DAW Mix" (as labelled in the screenshot below).
What I want and have done so far:
1. I want to route an audio channel (stereo) from Ableton to UAD Console virtual channel (stereo).
2. In Console the virtual channel is set and in Ableton the corresponding output channels are set correctly (Ext. out channel 1/2 as it is in Console)
3. In Cubase it works perfectly fine with the exact same setup
It seems that a lot of Ableton users have the same issue but couldn't find any solution to this... I would be grateful if someone could help me fixing this.
EDIT: lol I found the solution now! It doesn't make any sense but the outputs in Ableton seem not to be the corresponding/showing ones in Console. It works if I choose output 5/6 in Ableton so that it sends the signal to Console.
