Hi everyone,
I am trying to automate the macros of an effect rack I have on a Group track using clip envelopes.
I came across this workaround in the forum (viewtopic.php?t=225928), but it is a bit cumbersome and given it's nearly 3 years old I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better option to tackle this issue.
An additional thing I tried:
-assign a Midi CC to my macro using an external midi controller and a separte MIDI track.
-I manage to get the mapping assigned in the left panel (Channel 1, CC 21) and the device controls the rack fine
-but when creating a MIDI clip in that track and adding an envelope with that CC, it won't control the rack
I have also come across some M4L devices which do variations automation, but not exactly what I'm after as I would like to be able to fine tune the shape of the envelope.
Any suggestion would be very much welcome, whether it's a workaround or a M4L device!
Thanks all
Ben

Below is the suggested workaround in the original post
I worked out my own method and am very grateful for your tip because it solved a huge headache. Thank you for your solution to this issue. Here is the method i started using based off of your initial suggestion
1. Create blank aux audio track
2. Set input on aux track to no input
3. Record a silent clip of very short length
4. Set all tracks to output to Aux and set aux to output to group
5. Go to recorded blank clip’s envelope and add / record automation
6. Set the monitor input to in to hear playback of tracks (auto also works)
7. Turn the record arm on
I noticed some lag issues with this process so not sure if its optimal to be honest
Automate Effect Rack Macros in session mode from clip envelope
Re: Automate Effect Rack Macros in session mode from clip envelope
I have moved towards using this type of solution, rather than the cc approach - https://maxforlive.com/library/device/10291/remote2mod.
There is a midi version here to use with a dummy midi track - https://www.maxforlive.com/library/devi ... e2mod-midi, easier to create clips.
