Track not playing right away (not input delay)

Hi all;

I've been using 11 for a bit now, but am still very new to things. I'm experiencing something with one of my sessions that I need some guidance on.

I have a track set to play at the start of the piece. If I play the piece normally, there's a three second period where nothing plays on that track, and then suddenly it just cuts in. But... if I solo track that VST, it plays right from the start without issue.

I know there's something somewhere that I've messed up that's causing this, but even after consulting Dr. Google for a couple of hours, nothing seems to have fixed it. What am I missing??

I have since figured out that the meters were gray, and it has to do with automation mode in arrangement. Once I toggled it on, I saw the clip in question had set that 3 second window to 'off'. When I dragged the input line back up to 'on', everything started working again.

In case anyone else encounters this and is curious, there's your answer!
