Hi Ableton team and community,
Here’s my main feature request right up front:
Please allow the Line-In audio on the Ableton Move to be assigned to a dedicated track (with volume control, FX, and automation), or add it to the mixer as a separate controllable channel.
Currently, Line-In is treated as a simple pass-through with only global input gain, which severely limits its use in hybrid setups with external synths.
Why this matters:
I’m coming from the Novation Circuit Tracks, which — despite its limitations — handles external MIDI and audio exceptionally well:
Circuit Tracks — External Hardware Workflow:
Two dedicated MIDI tracks with per-channel routing, automation, and clock sync
Line-In audio is mixed seamlessly with internal tracks, with quick access to level control
Works well for live builds, drops, and layering — all without needing an external mixer
Its main weakness is DAW integration: no clip system, limited project export, and no Ableton Live connection. That’s why I was excited about the Move.
Where Move Falls Short (currently):
No mixer fader or dedicated track for Line-In audio
Input gain is global, hidden in a menu, and not performance-friendly
No way to automate, mute, or fade Line-In signal per scene or track
No clip integration for external audio — unlike internal sounds
This means I’d need an external mixer just to balance my synth with the Move in a live set
Why This Feature Would Be a Game-Changer:
A dedicated Line-In channel (even basic) would make the Move a true hybrid hub:
Live performance-ready without external mixers
Better suited for hardware + DAW workflows
Competitive with devices like Circuit Tracks, but with the huge bonus of Ableton integration
Feature Request: Assignable Line-In Track (Volume, FX, Automation) for Better Hybrid Integration
