No more memory

Post by christophe79 » Sat Jul 12, 2025 2:52 pm

Hi,
if someone can help me, i've sent 2 messages to Ableton, without answers.

i'm trying to test Live 12 on Mac OS Sonoma, apple G1, 16 Go & Push 2.
And the problem is when i turn on Push 2, Live draws all the memory of the computer. And the memory flies away, until the moment when I am forced to leave Live...

The problem is only when i turn on Push.

I've tried to erase preferences.cfg; tried many things... i don't understand.

Thanks for help

Do you have the same problem when your Push 2 is switched on when you start your Mac and then start Ableton?

Are you using the latest Ableton 12 version? Are you sure you're not using Rosetta?

There are a few common culprits when a macOS user profile behaves this way:

• Corrupted system or Live-related preferences
Even though we did a full reset of Live, macOS stores additional settings and caches per user, including MIDI configurations, accessibility permissions, and device authorizations, some of which aren't cleared with a Live reset.

• Third-party background tools or extensions
Apps like MIDI routers, display managers, antivirus tools, or “cleaner” utilities can sometimes interfere with Live or connected devices like Push 2. These tools usually run only in the main user account.

• Access permission issues
If the account had previously used older or modified versions of Live, some files or folders (including in `/Users/yourname/Library/`) may have broken permissions that prevent Live or Push 2 components from working properly.

• Leftover data from earlier installations
Sometimes old drivers, helper files, or even traces of unauthorized content (which I saw hints of in the first logs) can affect how Live behaves, even if they’re no longer actively used.
