The (missing) Features in Push3, that (almost) make me want to revert to Push 2

Post by simplemusic » Sat Jul 26, 2025 1:37 am

These are things I could do on the Push2 and I am missing terribly for my Live performances. It (almost) has me reverting to Push2, as the things I am using from P3 are not as useful as these things I have lost. Anyone else feeling this pain!!!

1) The ability to control Push3 window from Clyphx and do things like [move 3 scenes down {sames as down arrow 3x on Push], [Select Track1, then move 1 Track right then left]. Gets the Orange box onto Tracks 2-9, whilst still having track 1 visible on the laptop. Sync Laptop view and Push3 view.

2) Enabling the M4L device PushHacker with full functionality that was on P2. Useful to set max Volume setting to 0dB, disable Play Button, reassign unused buttons etc.

3) Ability to use clyphx to send messages to the Push3 screen

4) Ability to have Note mode up and running in Drum Rack mode for one track, but control Macros 1-8 on a device on another track.

5) Control Push3 from Clyphx allowing me to switch to Push3 Mode

Unless Ableton return all of the Components that were available, which they are unlikely to then the majority of these are non-starters i'm afraid.

With MaxforLive you'd be able to acheive number 4 however.

Interesting - does that exist already? Or just the potential to build something that would allow that. I have not found a way to break the nexus of the Note mode and encoder mapping having to be on the same track. Can you point me in the direction of where I should look to try achieve this.

This allows you to define what each encoder is mapped to which could be parameters of a rack on a different track.

Ah, thanks. Useful, but would still require me having that on the every track I want to work on in Note or Drum mode AND then it would be mapped to a very specific other control on another track as opposed to being able to have it mapped to any other tracks macros 1-8.

Thanks for providing though, I have some other ideas how I could use this with the floating window (for the 8 encoders on my MPK225).

Yes you would need to configure it like you do with all mapping devices, you speak of ClyphX Pro also so perhaps the MAcrobat racks should be investigated.
