The CC Control MIDI effect is very exciting because for the first time it allows us to automate MIDI CCs in the arrangement view. Editing CC messages in clip view (the old way) has always been a drag because it takes significantly more steps to access the data every time I wish to edit it. Editing CC data should be as simple and easy as automating any other parameter and CC Control is a step in the right direction.
Here's the problem: If I record a mod wheel move (CC1) it is written to clip view - Not to CC Control - and thus I'm unable to access or edit CC1 messages in the arrangement view (which would be far easier). I can draw in automation using CC Control but I can't record performed CC messages into an automation lane in arrangement view.
So I'm - in effect - forced to choose between drawing in all of my CC1 automation via CC Control if I want to control CC1 in arrangement view or choose to do it the old fashioned way (in clip view) if I wish to record CC1 messages from my MIDI controller. I can't do both and still control CC1 from the arrangement view.
So my request is this: Give CC Control the option to auto-map and record to the knobs when it receives incoming MIDI messages from my MIDI controller so that my performance is never recorded to the clip view. Keep it all in the arrangement view.
Note: I'm aware that I could technically manually map any controller knob to knobs on CC Control but that gets clunky and awkward fast. At best it's a temporary workaround.

Edit: Actually - on reflection - a better feature would be to simply record MIDI CC messages directly to the automation view, rather than clip view. That way, we wouldn't even need to involve the CC Control device at all.

Re: CC Control - Passthrough MIDI Controls CC Control knobs
Complicated question, because it implies some weird connections between automation and CCs, but I agree it's frustrating, and although it's an improvement, CC Control is not ideal.
