Edit MIDI mappings in Push 3S

Post by ark » Mon Aug 25, 2025 9:51 pm

Suppose I put an instrument on a track in Push 3 (standalone). I have an external MIDI controller connected to Push, and I want to use that controller to affect the sound that the instrument produces. For example, I might want to use CC11 (expression) to modulate the instrument's filter cutoff frequency.

If I'm using Live on a computer, this is easy to do: Click the MIDI button in the upper right corner of Live's window, click the macro knob I want to modulate, and then get my controller to put out a CC11 signal. Is there a way to do this on Push 3 without using the computer? Or do I have to copy the live set onto the computer, do the MIDI mapping there, and then copy the set back?

It seems to be worse than I thought: If I establish a MIDI mapping on the computer, then transfer the Live set to Push, the mapping I've established doesn't carry over at all.

Any ideas?

First make sure you are using best practices when moving files from live to push and back. Create the project folder outside the live folder like maybe your desktop. Collect all and save. Always move and replace the whole project folder.
I was having occasional issues until I started always moving in this way.

Yep, that's the way to do it atm.
