Change drum pad layout

Post by MikeGibbons » Sun Sep 14, 2025 7:11 pm

I use the Quest For Groove (QFG - https://questforgroove.com/) drum pad layout so I want to change the drum pad layout in a Move drum track to match the QFG layout. I've done this with Push but I haven't found a guide for Move. Any help gratefully received - thank you.

There is a forum post about setting default pad layout which would also be useful:

Apologies if the answer is in the manual, this forum or elsewhere, but I've not been able to find it.

Mike

I'm afraid there's no quick solution to this. You'd have to do it manually, plus Move's Drum layout is limited to 4x4.

4x4 is basically the MPC layout, that questforgroove site seems to have layouts for MPC-like controllers.

You can use this instructions to create and export Drum Rack presets from Live:

You can move pads by simply dragging from pad to pad in Pad View, ctrl+drag works for duplicating.

I also use this Q4G method and have been looking for a way to alter all of the drum kits to accommodate! Really dig the Move but the drum layout has never worked for me.

Joined this forum to make this post and happy someone else is out here trying to do the exact same thing. I've even started looking at 3rd party methods because it feels so important, but this really could be a more fluid process internally.
