Fullscreen and Minimise buttons missing - Can't access top menus (Fixed)

Post by wildcon » Wed Aug 20, 2025 11:38 am

Hi,

I seem to have a major issue with Live!!

I have updated to 12.12.2 and the program is just not loading properly on my MacBook Pro.

Only the red (close) button is showing at the top left. The minimise and full screen buttons appear blocked out. I also can't access any of the menus at the top of the screen. They are not available.

This only seems to be an issue with Ableton live. All my other programs seem fine.

Could be driver error, but I'm completely stumped!

Is anyone else getting this issue?

Can I roll back to the previous version.

It happens on mac when entering fullscreen, then quitting and reopening Live. Really annoying. I reported it a while back on Centercode but never got a reply. You can use ctrl-cmd-F to return Live to its 'normal' state, and just avoid fullscreen (or remember to exit fullscreen before exiting Live)

Yep, not all macs are affected. I'm on older Intel mac with macOS 13.7 Ventura, but dunno what causes it.

In case anyone else comes across this, I just found a proper fix for this issue:

In System Settings > Desktop & Dock, scroll down to Mission Control section and enable 'Displays have separate Spaces' toggle, then logout>login.

Once it's enabled, Ableton full screen should work correctly.
(it also fixed my full screen issues with After Effects)
