Push 3 - Pad sensitivity uneven across
Push 3 - Pad sensitivity uneven across
So I've noticed that the pad sensitivity across the 64 grid on P3 isn't even. The most sensitive pads are at the bottom left and the least sensitive are towards the top right.
They weren't always like this and I wonder if it's because I do a lot of finger drumming on the bottom left 16 pads and they're more 'broken in'.
Has anyone else with a P3 experienced this?

Hey Panten,
It's probably possible that pads lose sensitivity with time, but if I remember correctly the sensors are light-based and so I'd rather think that for some mysterious reason your calibration has moved.
So fingers-crossed, Support should be able to help you with this and a calibration tool.

Oh really, so is it the MPE portion of the pads that is light based? As in your fingertip blocking the light sensor is what detects where on the pad you slide? That sounds wild, didn't know that's how it works.

Seems like my memory tricked me, but check this anyway.

If you can’t resolve the issue consider a return. I had this problem with my push 2. I returned it to Ableton for a fee and was given a refurbished unit that was like new. I don’t remember the cost but at the time I thought it was a great deal.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to do some further testing to gauge the extent of this problem.
jur I remember watching that video a while back and it's part of the reason I was sold on the Push. Sensitivity of the pads is the most important thing on this device as it's how you interact with the instrument. Can you imagine a violin not reacting to the most feather-light touches or finger movements?

Yes, actually! That would make the violon playable for all of us normal people
But yeah P3 pads are incredible, that's what makes it feel like a proper instrument. I plugged my old P2 a few days ago and I thought the pads were broken because of how unresponsive they feel once you've got used to P3 (I remember having the same feeling back in the P2 days every time I would plug P1).

Seriously, the P3 is everything I ever wanted in a drum machine/instrument.
I've been finger drumming for many many years, started out on a traditional drumkit then bought my first Zoom SampleTrak 234 and fell in love.
I would covet the MPC 2000XL in magazines, sampling was the way forward but I just couldn't afford one and years later when I got to try one out in a music store I remember being sorely disappointed by how squishy and unresponsive those pads were compared to what I imagined they'd feel like.
The Push 3 pads are exactly how I imagined the MPC pads felt in my mind.
