Auto Update Torture

I have two Ableton installations, one laptop, which I use frequently, and a desktop which is very infrequently used. As a result, the desktop got way out of date with the versions. I want to get up-to-date, but the auto-update is going through every intermediate version installing the next nearest one, not the latest, and I'm still going through them. Is this expected? Surely, it should just go straight to the latest version? Or is there some reason why it doesn't?

Yes that's how it works.
In this kind of situation it's usually quicker to directly download and manually install the latest version.
