So, I somewhat recently started using the colors/tags in the browser to mark my favourite instruments and effects. I did this because I was quite sad to have to search for my most used things in the updated browser (Live 12). Something that disappointed me some months back was that when I added 'Operator' to my favourites, and I then chose it for a track, it just picked an 'empty/generic operator preset', meaning I didn't get to choose WHICH operator preset/sound/synth/instrument to pick - like a bass or pad, lead sounds or what-have-you.
Fastforward to today and I can't tell you why I did it again, BUT when I did it today, not only did it let me subsequently choose WHICH Operator preset I wanted, it actually put them in the old folders/categories that I had missed soooo much since upgrading to Live 12. (HAPPY ME)
I do not know if this is somehow intended, but it seems odd considering it's not the way the browser behaves when you add an Operator device that isn't placed in a colored/tag section. As I was writing this, I realised, however, that it also works this way when browsing on the screen of my machine.
Did someone else already figure this out? If so, apologies for the repost, but I was just too excited to leave it or even look for someone else mentioning it!
See the 2 images for yourself !
If it works for others, too, congrats to all who missed the old browser, like me, I guess! And here's hoping they do not change this back.
Please, Ableton, do not change this - let us have it both ways!!! <3
LEFT: 'Operator' in the standard 'Instruments' category vs. RIGHT: 'Operator' in the 'Instruments'-tag (my renaming of red) of the browser:
