I often have this problem when warping entire tracks and never found a nice solution.
Let's say you warp a song. There is a long, drony, arhythmic introdution, so you find a downbeat later in the track, and warp from there to the end. All good for this "main" part of the song.
Then, how do you warp the introduction part ?
How do you "warp backwards" ?

Re: How do you "warp backwards" ?
For myself, I usually just make sure my content before my 1.1.1 marker has the grid that is the same tempo of the content after that marker. If the grid is that tempo, I’ll go back a few bars (usually in multiples of 4, 8, or 16 bar duration), add markers at those spots, and double check that the segment tempo for those markers is the same. Ideally, this intro material will be the same tempo and even bars, and playback should work out if I move my Start point.
If your clip has a lot of warp markers and they vary in tempo, it’s more difficult to get an idea of the general tempo. If the track is really tight, it’s pretty easy.

Re: How do you "warp backwards" ?
Thanks for the answer.
I do this as well... but my preferred method is to temporarily put the clip in Re-Pitch mode so I can roughly tune it by ear first (when possible). That allows to treat a bigger portion of the "intro".
So, no "obvious" solution ?
Wouldn't it be nice to have a "Warp from here (backwards)" option ?
