Hey everyone,
I’m running into a weird issue and could use some advice.
Setup:
• Mac (macOS)
• Ableton Live 12
• Octatrack MKII
• Behringer UMC202HD (class-compliant, no Mac driver)
What happens:
• Octatrack → UMC202HD → GarageBand: works perfectly, audio shows up and plays fine.
• Octatrack → UMC202HD → Ableton Live: no audio. Input meters stay dead.Just some click like sounds from the oktatrack but keep dead after less than a sec.
• “Configure Device” in Audio MIDI Setup is greyed out (not selectable).
• macOS input meters (System Settings → Sound → Input → UMC202HD) show the signal from Octatrack.
• Ableton Input Config has 1, 2, 1/2 enabled. I’ve tried all combinations on a new audio track, monitor set to “In,” armed track — still nothing.
• I’ve reset CoreAudio (sudo killall coreaudiod) and restarted Ableton with GarageBand closed — no change.
Other info:
• Octatrack outputs to UMC202HD Inputs 1/2 (Main Out L/R)
• LINE selected on UMC, PAD off, Gain ~12:00
• Ableton sample rate set to 44.1 kHz (matches GarageBand and macOS)
I’m starting to think it’s a CoreAudio handshake issue in Ableton, since the hardware works fine and macOS sees input.
Question:
Has anyone successfully routed an Octatrack into Ableton via a UMC202HD on Mac? How do you get Ableton to actually receive the input?
Thanks in advance!
