Push 3 Standalone Follow Tempo

Post by islejd » Wed Oct 29, 2025 8:18 am

Hey guys, I want to be able to jam with my Push 3 alongside a DJ setup (Its two CDJ 3000X and a Xone:96 so there's no MIDI-out for clocking) and just found out there's this "Tempo Follower" feature in Ableton introduced in 11 which would solve my problem of being in sync with the beat of the CDJs. Now, I cannot find any documentation about this feature accessible in Push 3 Standalone. Am I missing it or is it really not part of the feature list? Would be amazing!

You're not missing anything, it's simply not implemented in Push SA (yet; hopefully it'll come at some point).

Definitely could use this, Push 3 with Ableton Link, and a drummer setting the beat via follow tempo is a worthy goal in terms of Ableton retaining their crown as the live performance kings.

Are the CDJs being used standalone with USB sticks, or as controllers for DJ software?

The Xone:96 does have a MIDI clock out, but it has to come from software.

Depending on the DJ software (if used), you could get a Link signal directly from that too.

<s>It's a feature I overlooked, however the latest Push beta mentions something to the effect that this is now fixed (it was under bugs, not features)</s>
Ah, yes, I've played with this feature, but alas, this update does not sound like it applies to standalone:
Enabling Tempo Follower from Push should now work as expected. Previously, it was only possible to enable the feature from Push if the Tempo Follower toggle was first activated in Live.

This applies to SA, so if if you can't make it work using the latest beta, please make sure to report on Centercode thx!
