New ableton 12 owner (BF sale). Midi Learn (Midi Map Mode) not working right.

I have used a lot of DAWs but I am new to Ableton, I bought 12 standard in the BF sale. Previously I have only used live 11 lite.

I am having fun except when I try to use a Midi Knob (Midi CC 21 or 27 or somethin glike that) on one of my keyboard controllers, to map to a knob on screen in Ableton Live Devices.

Once at least one midi CC map exists, no note on/off events reach any of my devices in any track (channel) that I select.

Other Midi keyboards still work.

It's like something is filtering that keyboard so it can't be used to play notes. Note that the Track checkbox and the Remote checkbox are both checked, and it's my understanding that is how it should be if one keyboard (midi device) should be able to send midi note on/off (play keyboard) and midi control (cc) to one active ableton session/project/liveset.

That is how it works in about 9 other daws. Am I going nuts because of a bug? Is it a mac os issue? A midi controller incompatiblity with ableton?

What keyboard are you using? Do any additional things show up in the list of midi mappings that might indicate that keys are being mapped?

Do you have anything set up in Control Surface in the midi preferences?

Keyboard is a Korg TR-88 (workstation from 1998) into a quad midi in box, I have tried different boxes.

There's no midi notes in my midi mappings.




Only one midi CC is mapped. Once it's mapped, my Midi keyboards notes are ignored, until I uncheck the track checkbox, then re-check it in the midi devices list in settings.


There's nothing about this keyboard in the Controller Surface (upper) section: It's attached to U6Midi port3, though I've tried it with every usb+midi option I have, to no effect.
