Update to 12.3.2 reset my user settings

Post by wiwa5371 » Fri Dec 19, 2025 11:47 am

Yesterday (18.12.25) after this update (to 12.3.2) all my user settings are reset. :(
Ableton Live is loading the default template, has no plugins in folder, no purchased, downloaded and installed packs,
no user-folders I've inserted.
Everything looks clean like a pure new installation.
Downgrade back to 12.3.1 doesn't help.
Take a complete folder copy from shadowcopy some weeks ago, doesn't help.
After that made a downgrade installation again to 12.3.1 and Live acts as expected.
Now everything was seen as before. :D
Be careful.

Anybody knows about all the files and folders that have to be saved to backup the user settings?
Library- and project folders are clear, but whats about the settings?

The settings are automatically copied from the previous version, and most of these files are stored in:
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 12.x.x

(idk the equivalent Windows path, but you get the idea)

Don't know why it failed in your case, but it can happen on rare occasions.

Thanks :) , found on Windows in folders:
...\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 12.3.1\Preferences

Also there are all the previously installed versions preferences.

However my Templates are in:
...\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Ableton\Library\User Library\User Library\Templates

With this knowledge, I will try the update again.

Install now is cured. Have all the preferences from 12.3.1 into 12.3.2 on hand. 8)
*strange mess*
