metronome is running, but I can't hear it

The orange buttons of the metronome are blinking in time, and a blue square is flashing in time; however, I can't hear any clicking. "Enable only while recording" is not selected. It has worked in the past. I imagine I have probably clobbered some output settings somehow, but I don't really know where to look for what might be wrong.

I'm using Ableton Live 12 Lite.

I am not very sure what "a blue square" means.
But I think you can check out the preview volume near the Main track. That also influences the volume of metronome.

Thanks very much! It's working now.

Once you directed me to the Main track, I was able to fiddle with a couple of things around Cue Out and Main Out. I think what did it might have been clicking on a reddish solid triangle beside three short horizontal bars, which turned black. As it happens, the volume was sort of in the middle, so that wasn't the source of the problem this time.

By the blue square, I meant the bottom cell of the 1x2 grid between Follow and Tap.

Well, I don't totally understand what the output channels mean, but for now I'm happy because something I tweaked got it to work.
